About him
I'm an optimist. Not the relentless, slightly exhausting kind — just someone who genuinely believes the glass is half full and that most problems are solvable. That probably says more about me than anything else I could write here.
Cornwall made me. I've worked in some of the most interesting corners of the world, but Cornwall’s wildness, its resilience to nature, its quiet beauty and long late summer evenings when the light goes on forever has shaped me more than anywhere.
I've spent over thirty years as a business professional in finance and delivery of infrastructure across the world, and lived for a stretch in Southeast Asia and built three successful businesses, including a FTSE 250 company. These days I co-run a company delivering infrastructure to accelerate Net Zero — the closest I've come to finding work that genuinely connects ambition with both social and environmental impact.
I have three teenage children who I love without reservation and I share their time equally with their mother. They are funny, complicated, and the best thing I've done.
I care deeply about doing the right thing. Honour, decency, honesty — these matter to me not as a philosophy but as how I actually try to move through the world. One of the clearest things to emerge from my recent divorce is just how much my outlook on life matters to me. I would like to be with someone who sees possibilities not negatives. I don't say this with bitterness — I am on good terms with my ex-wife — just as an honest part of what I’m seeking.
The future? I'm now spending some time getting back to fitness — swimming, gym, skiing, walking — after a period of other priorities. I'm also keen to get back to theatre, opera, and concerts; culture that takes you somewhere unexpected, I’m enjoying reclaiming these things. An ideal weekend is a sailing trip in good company, finding a beautiful anchorage, or a new harbour to visit and explore, a good dinner, a long evening of conversation, and a sunset that takes its time.

Someone genuine — that's the thing I find most attractive. People who are fully, uncomplicatedly themselves. Intelligence, elegance, a cosmopolitan outlook and a certain sophistication — yes. But also someone just as happy barefoot on a boat or at a beach BBQ as they are dressed for dinner. Resilient, willing to push back, not intimidated by directness, and capable of their own. And a mischievous streak helps enormously.
I'm not in a rush, and I'm not after anything in particular. I'd like to meet someone as an equal, rebuild a social life worth having, and — if I'm lucky — find a person to share a the remaining chapters with. Someone to talk to over a long dinner, to sail with, to argue about ideas with, to debate what's going on in the world, to watch the sun go down with or to sit in companionable quiet, reading books.
